PS – Main Belt Asteroid Discoveries (Mar 24 – Apr 28, 2014)

Provisional discoveries are maintained in the Minor Planet Center database, and carefully monitored as additional observations are made. In 3-6 years when the orbits are fully determined, the provisional discoveries are numbered and placed into the world’s official minor bodies catalog by the International Astronomical Union. Once numbered, an asteroid can be named by its student discoverers.
